Company History and Leadership

For more than 50 years we have been guiding and growing businesses in the areas of tax, assurance, accounting, business consulting and wealth management. Conveniently located in the NYC and Northern NJ metro areas, our team is highly skilled, experienced and friendly.

Founded by Lawrence B. Goodman in 1968, the practice has grown in clients and esteem over the years. The firm is now led by his son, David J. Goodman, who is managing director and partner. Larry continues to offer advice and counsel.

Although you will have a whole team at your disposal, below are more details about our leadership.

Managing Director — David J. Goodman, CPA, MST
David joined the firm in 1988. As managing partner, he is currently responsible for overseeing the practice operations, as well as working with a client base of individuals and closely-held businesses. A national speaker, David delights audiences with his no-nonsense, educational and entertaining style. A highly-skilled professional in the area of dental practices , David is often invited to speak on tax-related and business growth topics. He is also a frequent contributor to Dental Economics magazine on practice management. Before joining LB Goodman & Co, David worked in the Metropolitan Services Group of PriceWaterhouse in New York City. He attended the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Management degree. In 1995, he received a Master of Science in Taxation from Seton Hall University. David is a member of the Academy of Dental CPAs, the New Jersey Society of CPAs, the New York State Society of CPAs, the Florida Institute of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He serves on the board of trustees for many local nonprofit charities.

Director — Catherine Marotta, CPA, CGMA
Cathy Marotta joined LB Goodman & Co in 1978. She became the audit partner in 1989 after being the audit manager for five years. Cathy earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in psychology from Ramapo College and has completed master’s-level coursework in finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is a licensed certified public accountant and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the New Jersey Society of CPAs and the Florida Institute of CPAs. Cathy is currently serving as the Treasurer of Kozlov Dance International, a non-profit performing arts group. In addition to her vast experience, she has extensive knowledge of internal controls, taxes, and international business.
